Frequently Asked
Questions
Please reference the following FAQ
prior to submitting a support inquiry. A majority of users
will find the answers they desire below.
- I lost the settings (username, password, IP
address, etc.) I set in the WebReboot, now what should
I do?
You can restore the factory default settings by enabling
a Factory Reset. See the User's Guide for complete instructions.
- Can I enable the WebReboot to operate behind
a firewall? What about port forwarding/redirection?
The WebReboot will work perfectly well behind a firewall.
The WebReboot will respond to ANY port connection it receives,
not just HTTP 80. You can map http://externaladdress:XXXX
to http://internaladdress:NNNN with your firewall software
without any addtional configuration in the WebReboot,
and it will work just fine.
- Can I operate the WebReboot through a Virtual
Private Network (VPN)?
Yes, you can enable communication across a VPN for added
security.
- I cannot connect to the WebReboot behind a
network switch, but I can connect with a hub. No link
light is visible when directly connected to the switch.
By design, the WebReboot embedded web server is very "polite"
in reporting itself to network switch equipment. Essentially,
the web server will not respond to the switch unless it
is spoken to first. Often, the switch will only actively
seek new equipment during an ARP table update. You may
either reboot the switch to force an ARP update, or wait
until the switch performs an automatic update (typically
two hours).
If multiple ARP updates are not successful in enabling
communication, place a small hub between the WebReboot
and the switch to completely bypass the issue.
